Am I a Good Ambassador?

Salam alaykum waramatullah wabarakatuhu, "Do you think I look like a good muslim?" that was the question I was asked yesterday. This question took me by surprise. I had only known this sister a few months. In that time have I treated her badly? Have i interacted with her as though she was unworthy of my attention? This were the questions that was going through my mind seconds after the question was asked. I asked her what had brought this question on, she then told me the story of how someone at her work made a statement to the effect of you are not a typical muslim. I should point out her colleague is not a muslim. From our discussion I came to the conclusion that her colleague made this statement because she does not wear the hijab but more importantly this sister is nice and caring which her colleague seems to think are not characters befitting of a good muslim. First of all I think every muslim is on a journey of faith, we keep struggling to be the best muslim we can be.

Gentle reminder

Hadith of the Day Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should not hurt his neighbor and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should serve his guest generously and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should talk what is good or keep quiet." {Volume 8, Book 73, Number 158, Sahih Bukhari} Abu Sufyan reported it on the authority of Jabir that he had heard the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) say: When Satan hears the call to prayer, he runs away to a distance like that of Rauha. Sulaimin said: I asked him about Rauha. He replied: It is at a distance of thirty-six miles from Medina. (Sahih Muslim, Book of Prayers (4), Number 0751)

I want that job now...

As salaam alaykum wara matullah wabarakatuhu, How are you all? I pray this post meets you in the best of eeman and health. It has been a while since my last post the hustle and bustle of life is to blame but Allah has made it possible for me to write this alhamdulilah. I would like to relate a little story about a friend of mine after seeking her permission of course hoping that it serves as a reminder for us all as we go about our everyday activities. May Allah continue to be with her, give her strength and increase her in eeman. She applied for a job at the start of the year, went for the interview but was unsuccessful. Seven months later the company sends her an email saying that another position is available and would she be interested in applying for it. Alhamdulillah after the interview process she was accepted for the position. I remember the feelings of upset she had the first time of applying for the job and didn’t get it. Sometimes in life we experience difficulties and setba

Inspiration, from starlings?

Salam alaykum waramatullah wabarakatuhu, I hope this post meets you in the best of health and eeman. I have been a little busy with work. The breakfast programme on BBC this morning (hope you haven't spotted that I do enjoy watching the BBC, I don't work for them, honest. lol) were showing a video of a type of bird called starling the video was taken in Gretna Green. Thousands of these birds were flying together in a coordinated manner and not hitting one another, it was a sight to behold. They were described as performing aerial acrobatics. They perform this act in the autumn and it was probably to find a safe place to sleep. It looked like they were being controlled by some remote control. The interviewee, a man from RSPB (The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) was asked how they did this of which he had no answer. Allah created these birds and has equipped them with this means by which all they could all pull together to find a safe place to rest for the night. This

water a necessity?

Salam Alaykum, Alhamdulilah. I pray that this blog meets you all in the best of health and eeman. My aplogies for not posting any blog for a while I was busy advertising the blog and trying to get some inspiration for what to write. May Allah make our affairs easy for us all ameen. My news highlight of the week was the story of the freed BBC journalist, Alan Johnston, describing the water he was given to drink at the start of his ordeal as murky and this contributed to him falling ill. Some time passed and he was able to convince his captives to boil the murky water for him to make it drinkable and his health improved. This got me thinking of the plight of millions of people around the world (mainly in Africa) who have little or no access water. When they find water it is most likely dirty but they have no choice but to drink it since they aren't sure when next they would be able to find water to drink. This has a knock on effect of causing diarrhea and cholera which the weak among

There Should be an Introduction

Salam alaykum waramatullah wabarakatuhu, All praise is to Allah Lord of the worlds, the creator of the heavens and earth and all that is in them and in between them. I ask for the blessings and mercy of Allah on prophet Muhammad (SAW), I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed shaitan, the shayateens and the evil from myself and the evil of my desires. All the good that would result from this blogging is from Allah and all that is evil in it is from myself. I ask Allah's forgiveness and I pray Allah purifies my intention for doing this. Inshaallah I intend to use this means (blog) as a reminder first for myself and all of us. Any comments would be welcome and deeply appreciated. It is important that one shouls enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil but also important is that the one who enjoins good should practice that which he enjoined and keep away from that which he has asked others to keep away from. So I ask all of you to remember me in your duas that Allah makes it easy
