Reminders

Verily! We have made that which is on earth as an adornment for it, in order that We may test them (mankind) as to which of them are best in deeds. [i.e.those who do good deeds in the most perfect manner, that means to do them (deeds) totally for Allah's sake and in accordance to the legal ways of the Prophet]. {Surah Al-Kahf , Ayah 7}

Hadith of the Day Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (sallallhu alayhi wa salam) said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should not hurt his neighbor and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should serve his guest generously and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should talk what is good or keep quiet." {Volume 8, Book 73, Number 158, Sahih Bukhari}

O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allah, but do that which they are commanded. {Surah At-Tahrim , Ayah 6}

Narrated Mus'ab bin Sa'd: Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas used to recommend these five (statements) and say that the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) said so (and they are): "O Allah! I seek refuge with You from miserliness, and seek refuge with You from cowardice, and seek refuge with You from being brought back to geriatric old age, and seek refuge with You from the afflictions of the world, and seek refuge with You from the punishment of the grave." Sahih Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 75, Number 381

A year gone by

Salam alaykum, Time goes so swiftly and I can hardly believe it has been a year since I last blogged. A year full of fun, happiness and huge changes. Alhamdulilah I am now a doctor (of Philosophy) and a married woman. I pray Allah puts barakah in my and your affairs. Through all the changes the year brought I learnt an important lesson: 1) Put your trust in Allah 2) Have people around you that remind you to put your trust in Allah 3) Have people who encourage you in all you do (so far it is not in the disobedience of your Lord). Inshaallah I will strengthen my effort to maintain this blog. I hope you like the little changes that I have introduced. I pray the year to come brings more joy and happiness and whatever trials await us we are patient with the qadr of Allah (subhanallah wa tahala). O you who believe! Seek assistance through patience and prayer; surely Allah is with the patient. (Al Quran 2:153)

Hope and Change

Salam alaykum, It has been a little while. I hope this post meets you in the best of health and eeman. I have been thinking of what to write in a while. I started a topic on humility but I haven't gotten round to completing it. If you have anything on that or any other thing please do post your ideas and comments.  I settled on hope and change. You might be thinking that how is hope related to change but here goes my thinking. Change is unavoidable, we see it everyday, month or year as we look at ourselves in the mirror, hear of a birth, a death or marriage. Change is also visible with the change in the seasons. We are both excited and fearful of change. We hope the change brings something of joy with it. We worry that we might not be able to handle the change or the consequences of it. This is were hope comes into its own. We hope and pray that it is for the best and we are patient on that. As we grow old and become responsible and accountable for our deeds, we try to do

The struggle

Assalam alaykum waramatullah wabarakatuhu, I pray this email meets you in the best of health and eeman. I pray Allah (subhanallah watahala) continues to assist us all in our affairs and make our path easy for us. Ameen.  O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded. (Q66vs6). The path to protecting yourself and your family does not always run smoothly but it is a constant struggle. A nd those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.
